About
Unique…
That’s the only way to describe Rocky Bay Cove. A private beach and art trail on the Tutukaka Coast.
Access to Rocky Bay Cove is available on a very limited and exclusive basis. Only one booking is taken at a time so campers have exclusive use of the property, which is set amongst landscaped grounds and a growing collection of designer art, including a life-size Giant Moa and NZ’s largest bucket.
There are three ponds that are home to ducks (including the rare native Brown Teal), and the art trails weave their way through bush areas that are a habitat to an array of native birds: pigeon, tui, fantail, warbler, silvereye, and kaka (for a short time in summer).
There is an accessory building on site (7m x 7m) which houses kayaks, fishing tackle, a dingy, and snorkelling gear for guests to use. There is a barbeque, fridge, freezer, microwave, power connections, fresh drinking water, and a flush toilet and warm shower, all available at no extra charge.
The Cove is very safe for swimming and snorkelling, has a deep water mooring and a private boat ramp that is suitable for any trailer boat. Dolphins regularly visit the Bay and sometimes swim into the Cove.
Rocky Bay Xtreme Golf is popular from a floating green (golf clubs and balls provided), and the kids (big and small) will love to dive for the golf balls after the game! Relax at night with a fire on the beach and cook up your catch of the day.
And there is so much to do in the Tutukaka area. Rocky Bay Cove is only 5 minutes drive to the hub of the coast, Tutukaka, where you will find bars, cafes and shops and only 7 minutes to Matapouri Bay, and 10 minutes to Sandy Bay, one of New Zealand’s best surf beaches. This is an excellent base for families with children as this property offers a selection of things to see and do right on your doorstep.
